I needed a chicken coop for cheap so I bought a used rabbit hutch for about $20. It was a steal the lumber was in great condition and it was well built! I built a large run and made it more chicken friendly. Its still missing something though...the coop is about a 6 by 4 rectangle and it is divided into 3 sections with indivisual doors made of hardware cloth. i cut a door so the chickens could move in between the first 2 sections and there is everything they need...nestingboxes, roosts, etc. Should I tear out the sides altogether? I need opinions!

Also, how many chickens could I fit in there at the most? Again the run is very large.

Removing the interior walls might help with ventilation. If the hutch has a wire floor, you might consider covering it to facilitate cleaning.

If you have a 50sq ft run (min) that coop will hold five non-bantam chickens (give or take) if they have access to the whole thing.

I would make them have more room then less if you can. More room leads to happier, healthier chickens!
