My chicks are 6 weeks old, fully feathered, outgrowing their temporary in-house brooder, and making a ruckus; they want out. I've been taking them outside during the day as we have been having 70-80 degree days. However, it turned cold again. This week's weather is to be in the low 70s to low 80s during the day but then drop in high 50s to low 60s at night. But then by Friday night the temps are dropping back down to the high 30s, mid 40s for a few nights. Can they take that colder weather now that they are fully feathered? I'm new to this, so please help. LOL

Yes, I converted the shed connected to barn into their coop. They love it out there.

My husband and I also have new chicks and are new at this however, we both grew up with chickens and have been given lots of knowledge from both our parents. Ours are 4 weeks old now and will be going out to their coop in 2 weeks. 6 weeks seems to be the 'correct' age from everything that we have been told and have read on our own. Last week (3 weeks old) we moved them from the house (64 degrees) with a heat lamp, to the garage (40 degrees) and we still have the heat lamp on them. We are in Michigan and we are moving them out to the coop in 2 more weeks (6 weeks old) and will continue to leave the heat lamp accessible for the first few days and our colder nights. Hope this helps!
