how soon can I start giving "treats" to Silkie chicks?

We don't even have them yet, hopefully they will arrive tomorrow, but from everything I have heard and the few pics I have seen, I am expecting some really tiny chicks. I would like them to be as "tame" as possible, (their main purpose is to be cute pets, LOL), I would love to be able to hold them and pet them even when they are adults, and it sounds like giving them treats from the hand is a good idea. However I am wondering at what point should I offer them something other than their regular chick starter? Do I wait longer because of their tiny size, or do I just make sure to offer them only really soft things? And I was also wondering if they are supposed to get grit from the very beginning? Thanks for any suggestions!

I usually always start giving my baby chicks treats like baby chick size scratch at about a week old. As for grit, about ten days old. I also after about a week give them tiny pieces of lettuce and cooked egg. They love it.

And of course I pick them up everyday for as long as they live. Silkies, I've always found are easy to tame and make into pets.
