I am new to raising ducks and my muscovy mama just hatched one duckling this morning. She is in her nesting box with the duck. Does the duckling need water for drinking right now. No other eggs have hatched. Is there a chance they could still hatch. I appreciate any help you can give. Thanks!

Hello and welcome.

Yes, the other eggs still have a chance to hatch. This one could be a "early bird" and the others need a few more hours to start the process. I give my ducklings access to water shortly after hatching but they don't seem too interested in it for the first few hours.

I think it's been about 12 hours since the duckling hatched. How long should I wait on the others?

Thanks for the info. We'll see if there is any progress tomorrow.
