How tall does the run fence need to be to keep the chickens in?

I am thinking of fencing off half the yard with 1x2 wire fence on those easy metal fence poles so my dogs can have half the yard and the chickens can have the other half.
I want the fence to be tall enough to convince the chickens to stay on their side. It's the safer, shaded, bushy side so there are places to forage and hide from hawks.

Just wondering how tall the fence needs to be. The yard is enclosed in 6 foot cedar fence. This would cut across the yard.

We used 4X4 posts with 5' welded wire stapled on. We have never had any go over it.
We dont have anything at the top for them to get onto or they probably would. If we put crossboards on or near the top i think it would give them something to jump up to........but with nothing there, they dont even try. I hope this helps

I'd say you're safe with 5 feet, and if you're extra worried, you can always clip their longest flight feather and they won't be able to fly as high
