I have a rooster and 2 hens and I would like to increase their numbers by hatching out their own eggs. If I leave eggs in their egg box will that cause the hens or hen to become broody and sit on the eggs? If so how long do they incubate? If they hatch would I have to separate the hatchlings and hen from the other 2? Thanks!

Putting an egg in the egg box does not work.when a hen does get broody though you have to wait 21 days or 3 weeks or more.what kind of breed is your hen and how old is she, also when the eggs hatch, you could leave the hen and the chicks with your other flock, but if the rest of your flock starts to peck the chicks separate them immediately.

They are all about a year . 1 hen is a red , i dont know about the other .
