How to attract bugs to the run.

Anyone have any ideas on how to attract bugs to go into the chicken run? I have some pieces of old wood in there, but other than that are there any ideas? Sugar attracts lots of ants, but it probably would just be eaten by chickens which might not be good. Any ideas?

Hay and alfalfa will attract flies and other flying insects. See the link attached.

Put a compost heap in the run.

thanks for the ideas! A compost pile would be nice, but I already have one built in their outside fenced area. Didn't think of hay.
