This is how to build you a brooder out of a 55 gallon plastic barrel. Now with this one I used what I had laying around here. It's nothing fancy, but it will give you the general idea on how to do it.
You will need:
1 = 55 gallon plastic barrel
2 = 8 foot 2x4's
2 = 8 foot 2x2's
2 = bungee cords
1 = light cord with a light socket
1 = light bulb
1 piece of wire mash
some nails
some screws
some wire
Stand the barrel up right and look for the mold line that goes all the way around the barrel. This will give you a good line to follow to get a good half. Follow it and cut it in half.

Now measure the half barrel both ways, top to bottom and side to side. Cut your 2x4s to make a frame where the half of the barrel will set in it. Cut your 2x2s to make a frame that will fit inside of the 2x4 frame. Nail it flush with the bottom of the 2x4 frame.
Now cut your wire mesh and attach it to the top of the 2x2s on the inside of the 2x4 frame.
Drill a hole through the top-center of the barrel and install the light fixture. Use silicone around the hole to prevent water leakage.
Mark the a door out on the barrel and cut it out.
You can use hinges and a latch but wire was used on this
one.
Now hammer a nail in the outside of each corner of the 2x4 frame.
Hook your bungee cords to the nails, pull them across the barrel and hook to the nail on the other side. This will hold the barrel down the the frame where varmints can't tip it over. It also make it easy to remove it so you can clean it when you need to.
Now you got yourself are brooder.
