Do you take all the eggs you started out with? Or do you take the number of eggs just prior to hatch? I started out with 9 eggs. At first candling two were infertile, and one had died. We hatched all 6 that were left and all chicks are healthy and thriving. What would you consider this hatch rate to be? I want to keep records .... still learning all this stuff.

This link has some info on that. I do not count eggs that were infertile. I do count ones that died during incubation. If you count the infertiles, you are getting fertility rates, but if you remove those from the equation, you get your hatch rate.

6 divided by 7 gives you an 85% hatch rate, by that scenario, I think.

Thank you so much for that link and for your answer. I kind of thought that it shouldn't include the infertiles... I guess it's kind of obvious now that I think about it.
