How to calibrate a thermometer?

I know how to calibrate a hygrometer but how do you calibrate a thermometer? I just read a post saying to make sure it is calibrated correctly but how is this done. Thansk

just a note I just did this however you need to have crushed ice and leave it for 5 mins to stabilize very important to get correct readings

Only do the ice thing with a glass thermometer. Calibrate digitals at the range there going to be used to a medical thermometer.
