i live in the city and want to continue raising poultry, i have a huge back yard and i need five acres and i only have a few birds is there any one who can tell me if there is a way to change it to where i can keep poultry

Thank You

It depends entirely on where you live, how the city government is set up, what regulations are preventing you (municipal code, ordinance, comprehensive plan policy, general practice). Give more details and you'll get more advice.

well i live in the city but completely surronded by feilds i have a large enough back yard i think for my ducks but the city says that i need five acres, but its not like i want a lot i just want to keep a few around. why would i need five acres for 4 to 9 ducks

The frist thing to do, I always say, is speak to staff and try to find out if they know why the regulation exists. If they don't know, keep going up the chain of command until you find someone who does. Speak to everyone you can, and if they still can't help you, get in touch with any elected officials you can find (city council, etc.).

By the way, when contacting City Council members, you can always save time (and ensure that your request is on the public record) by sending a group letter directly to the City Clerk, with a note requesting that the clerk forward the letter to the Council.

You may get nothing out of the whole process. Then again, you may just find a sympathetic ear that can champion your issue from inside the city.
