Hi,I was inside of my four hens run and coop getting their eggs, and scraping out all the poo and leftover hay.Well, there's a spot on the other side of the run/fencing border where my geese are laying eggs, the whole setup of the coop and barn is barn/shed.There's a place where one of the nests have a little hole behind it.So almost every week,an egg goes through the little hole and comes into the run. They will not accept the egg anymore, then the egg rots out(From not being turned by the mammas)and the gosling in that egg dies,i come to scrape it up,(and it's under the hay)it cracks open, and smells to HIGH HEAVENS

.Is there any way I can stop this from happening?I try covering the hole all the way back up,the chickens just scratch it all out.I would want to put another piece of fencing wood I have, but,I don't want it to look tacky.

Any other suggestions would really help!

I patch holes with just a lil more fencing.. Cut a peice of fencing about 2in larger then the hole , make sure to leave yourself a lil extra so you can wrap the wire from teh patch to your excitsting wire and voila..

I can't find my camera, and I'll try to best describe how the fencing looks.Imagine a square run, then of the front of the run, there is a hole that can go under the fencing of the run and on the otherside, there are geese laying on eggs. The hole leads right behind a nest.So when a goose moves,an egg goes through the little hole, and into the coop.

Sounds like the hole is reoccuring because the chickens are scratching in that area. If thats the case, either place wire on the ground leading up to where the hole is, or better yet, just place a cinderblock there.
