How to dust a turkey?

I just bought Sevin dust to put on my turkey for mites, but I'm not entirely sure how to put in on him/her. Any tips?

Just dump it on the ground and they will do it themselves. Mine dust themselves in the ashes left over after fires.

When I dust my birds (catching them), I try to make sure it gets in deep between all the feathers. I lift the body feathers, powder it in, and repeat until the whole body, neck, and head is dusted. Even if the birds shake it off the excess, there will still be some dust left between the feathers to continue killing those critters. I find it less effective if you just sprayed it on the outside feathers because the dust could be brushed off. The objective is to get between the feathers.
