how to ease chicks into hen population

My chicks are about 6 weeks old. I placed them into hen house with the other hens, but,but in a separated area, so others cannot get to them. They are almost ready to fly out, they roost on top of highest board. How and when do I put them in with my other 4 hens, 3 rir and l wells they are a little over l year old.And the wells is broody. How do I do it, so they will be safe and not pecked if it happens.

Mixing chicks with hens can be a problem from a number of vantage points; the first being health issues.

I have found it best not to put in new pullets with older hens until the pullets are between 16 and 20 weeks. saladin
