I had a male peachick 7 months old drown in my water trough. My turkeys and chickens were all locked up and he was out. Sadly, Percy didn’t make it . That was about 2 weeks ago. Well, a week ago, some of my friends were over, and we all were talking in the pen with the goats and poultry. One of my friends went over to the trough and asked me why a turkey was swimming in it. My 4 month old bourbon red tom (I think) Reggie, fell in and almost drowned. I took him out and his eyes were closed and he was barely breathing. I gently pumped the water from his chest and, lol , gave him mouth to beak! Then I got my friends to help set up a little kennel with a heat lamp for him. We wrapped Reggie up with warm towels and about an hour later, he began to try to stand up and he pushed himself up and started calling to his brothers. Now he’s fine, albeit with some scraggly feathers, but my rio grande turkey Turklesses( like hercluless) almost drowned as well and we did the same to him/her? So, any ideas on how to rig the trough so the sheep and goat can drink but the birds don’t drown?

I have three volumes ranging from just under 100 gallons to about 300 gallons.

This the smallest in upper right of image.

The containers are kept essentially full all the time. The chickens in that situation can power their way out by flapping and climbing with feet. They get knocked in frequently. Your birds appear to have clipped wings which likely prevents a similar method for getting out.

With chicks I place a wooden pallet in to provide incline with steps the birds can clamber up. That approach may work your birds with clipped wings.

Birds in poor health have difficulty extracting themselves regardless of what you might do.

We had a time with wild birds in our livestock tanks (much bigger than 100 gallons) but idea should be the same. My husband floated a plank in them, and the smaller birds could land on it and get a drink, and most anything else could use it to crawl out.

Don't know if that will help or not.

We just put rubber pans or smaller water buckets by the stock tank so there's somewhere the birds can drink from. Mine never go in the tank that way.
