How to get chickens to lay in the nesting box?

My Chickens started laying a couple weeks ago, the are laying all the eggs on the ground and they are getting dirty. One chicken was laying eggs in the nesting boxes but she stopped after two days, I have tried everything I know to get them to lay in the nesting boxes like putting golf balls in the nesting boxes and stuff but nothing is working. Any suggestions?

You could close them in the coop for a few days.

What kind of nesting box set up do you have? Where are they etc. Can they get into the nesting boxes easily? Are they a dark quiet place?

My nesting boxes are in the coop. I have three, but the all lay in just one...

Mine have been laying going on two months and are just now getting the hang of it. Mine lay all day long so I have started collecting the eggs at night. Leaving all of the eggs in the nest until they are all done seems to help them all want to lay in the nest. It just takes time.
