How to grow grass for aviary?

I am building an aviary for my parakeets, and I want to have real grass for the bottom portion of the aviary so that it is maintenance free.

Would the following grass seed be sufficient for growing grass for an empty area of 8ft x 5ft?

i would be careful with that as it has chemicals in it to help the seed but could be harmful to the birds. could plant rye/ wheat grass and/or clover

Do parakeets eat off the ground?
Will they live in there full time or just as an outing?
