I have a pickup -no cover for bed. Would the wind hurt them? I also have a minivan and I could move out the seats, but will the smell ever go away? What do you use?

Get 4 or 5 good size cardboard boxes. That should be enough. Put some paper on the floor. AND open your windows. I have made permanent crates from wood frames & chicken wire but then I'm in it for the long haul. Tape the boxes if your worried about them getting out. Also you might need to put a few air holes for their benefit. I butcher my own so seldom need to transport any but when I do I do it in style. Everybody wants to buy my crates all the time - NOPE

If you don't have cages I would use boxes.... I would definately take the truck though. Than van would be a disaster....

I am the queen of plywood and bailing twine!! I had to haul my pigs to the butcher and didnt have a horse trailer, so I loaded them on my regular trailer that has about three foot sides, then put plywood over top and strapped it down. You could probably use tarps if you did them tight enough.

Definately the pickup!! The wind won't hurt them; the ventilation will do them good. Use Cardboard boxes but cut vents so they don't smother.
