Hi, my coop will not be built until the week after July 4th. I was browsing for chickens on line and am thinking about getting Juvenile pullets vs baby chicks. I was wondering if the older 15-18 weeks juveniles will warm up to me and be as friendly or is it better to start them as chicks. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go thru the whole chick process and borrow someone's equipment.

Thanks,
Vicki

I'm a big fan of starting with juvenile birds. Much easier than eggs or chicks. Plus you know exactly what you are getting. Esp. if you are looking for breeding or show quality. Go for it. Bring them treats and move slowly among them. Learn to hold them properly and don't "grab" at them. Pretty soon they will come running when they see you coming with feed and treats.
Best,
Karen

Excellent, thanks. I do need only female. I am going for a nice assortment of egg layers.
