(Sorry if this is in the wrong thread wasn't sure where to post it) I want to get a rooster for breeding purposes, but I don't know if the crowing would bother my neighbor. I live on a solid amount of land of 4 acres. Despite that my neighbor is still kinda close maybe 100 - 120 feet away from my house. I really want a rooster but don't know if they would complain and I'd have to get rid of the potential rooster, and my current laying hens that have had for several years. Would it be worth asking them if a rooster crow would bother them?

I have also been unsuccessful in trying to find any info on specific chicken laws for Alabama

I know this isn't exactly an answer to your question, but I've noticed that different breeds of roosters' crows can be more frequent/ annoying than others, so maybe research this? I have 2 Silkie roosters or different color varieties whose crows are both extremely high pitched and frequent. One sounds like a bad imitation of Tarzan. It is constant crowing....tons all morning and evening. My Sapphire Splash, Barred Plymouth Rock, and Buff Brahma roosters on the other hand do not have obnoxious crows and the SS and BPR roosters do it infrequently. Maybe be careful which breed of rooster you get if you get one.
