how to make feed last longer.

Do you have the feeder raised off the ground this seems to help with waste try putting it on a cinder block say 10 inches or so off the ground

I would shop prices for feed. Your corn price is our feed pellet price. I have found prices vary as much as $3 for the same 50# bag.

My girls do much better on pellets than crumbles. They are not real thrilled with the crumbles...so I use the crumbles for mash.

It's cold where you are, Chicken Girl, and they will eat more to maintain their body temp - especially if they are laying. Mine sure do anyway. I do occasionally give them warm oatmeal to help with that.
