Hi everyone!
Instead of vaccination is there a natural way I can prevent my silkies from getting mareks disease? Something I can put in their water or a type of food? I just wanted some information since I can’t find any online.

Complete isolation and bio security.
No little birds getting in, a roof, no friends with chickens around yours.
The vaccine is only 85% effective at keep the tumors from growing, birds can still catch and spread it.

It's a virus, No herb will prevent it.

I honestly wouldn't worry.

Oh ok! Thank you! I was just reading how easy it is for silkies to get it so I was worried.

Mareks is pretty much everywhere in the world. We don’t see it much here, but in some areas with a lot of backyard flocks it may be more common. Did the silkies come from a breeder or a hatchery? Other than the vaccine, nothing can prevent a chicken from being exposed, such as by wild birds or a new chicken who is a carrier. Biosecurity is a good way to prevent a lot of diseases.
