How to reinforce a screen on a steel door?

I have a steel door on my coop with a window that slides up and has a screen. I put a couple small spring tension rods behind the screen and some hardware cloth but a coon could push it through, I'm sure.
I never really worried about it before, but since I've had a coon attack, I realize I've been underestimating their abilities. Any ideas on how to make that screen window safer? I hate to close it in summer, because it helps with a breeze.
Suggestions?

I would replace the screen with hardware cloth. Use metal screws with washers to install it.. even coons can't get through properly installed hardware cloth.

I'd build a wooden frame to hold the HW cloth, and use self drilling/tapping hex head screws to attach the frame to the door
