How to select a good show duck?

My brother and I are in 4h and have 9 ducks. We are bringing 4 ducks to the fair to show and sell. I am not sure which ones we should bring because I don't know what seperates a champion show duck from a last place duck. I don't want to buy a poultry standard of perfection and I have tried finding answers on google but nothing is helpful! It is our first time owning/showing poultry so any other advice or tips would be very helpful!!!
