Good morning!!

I bought a homemade coop yesterday 😍 it was an awesome deal and I’m so excited. The previous owner kept it under his large garage awning for 2 years as is and has kept in great shape. I don’t have an awning or any such coverage so I’m looking to side it and roof it in some way.

My thought was to use vinyl siding, I have an outlet near me with awesome prices, but I’m unsure about what to do with the back door... it’s basically the entire back that swings open andit fits quite snuggly so there isn’t any room for like an edging there if I keep with the siding.

Also, I’m trying to keep it low cost as this is serving as my temporary/starter coop. All advice welcome!!! Thank you!

Side with what the resource has at a good price.

For the back door, cut the siding so that it doesn't go all the way across in one length ie. a siding row would have a small section that is the skinny part on the left and a long section that is the door part. Depending on how the right side of the door hits/touches the edge when it swings open, the door edge siding piece may need to be cut at an angle, to allow for swing.

If you're able to cut metal I have used metal siding for all of mine. I've found it keeps things dry and looks pretty nice.
While this small coop was all red, the big one has a white roof to match the barns.
Please ignore my DIY screen door with window screens.
