Hi. I've recently put my bantams outside. I hatched 5 from eggs and 4 are roosters. I have managed to split them into 2 groups and they seem content. How can I stop them from calling early in the morning? Thanks for any help.

I have a friend who keeps a rooster with her flock in the city, on a fairly busy street (near a fire station, delivery vehicles, etc.) They stay in their pen in the garage until rush hour starts, then she lets them out into the fenced yard for the day. She gathers them back into their pen before rush hour is done. She has done this for years, no complaints from her neighbors.

Generally, they are going to respond to light. So, if they are starting to make noise at daybreak, then it is harder to control when they are in an outside pen. But, sometimes, it is light coming from headlights, or other non-sun sources that wakes them up early. Which is it for them?

How old are they?

are you planning to keep all 4 males and only 1 female?

They can react to noise too, and if one starts they ALL start.
There is only one device I know of for sure that shuts roosters up.... A shotgun.

Aaron

Let me add, keeping 4 males and one female? That is going to end very badly for that female.
