Hello everyone,

I have two ragdoll cats and they are here and there terrorising my indian ringneck parrots. When they jump onto the cage i run go out there there and run at them to scare them away. The cage is built into the ground and it is pretty big. But the mother at the moment is nesting and im worried in a few weeks they will be having babys (maybe) and i do not want them to stress the birds out. These type of cats are meant to be lazy but they are still jumping around and climbing the cage that is high. Also ill be getting a separate cage for the new baby to handraise it and im thinking of putting a metal sheet ontop of it as i have heard that cats dont like the feeling of metal on their paws. and zip ties around it so that the cats dont jump on the cage.

Any suggestions would help.

Kind regards,
Frostyricho

There is a fantastic stick called a cattle prod. It is for sale at farm supply stores. It produces an electric shock that just jolts and does not kill anything. That would train your cat to stay off the top of cage. Cats learn and remember. There are ways to make one yourself from automotive ignition coils and size D flashlight batteries. The shock will only frighten them and not hurt them.. The amperage is minute.
