I have 2 (coco and oreo)ducks that are about 7-8 weeks old now. Coco usually hardly tried biting me but, recently he/she has been biting a lot recently as well as oreo to. The most recent example I have is when I went to go feed them and I had squatted down and when I did oreo literally jumped in the air just to latch onto my check near my eye. It.Hurt.So.Bad. I even bleed a little :( Coco bites at my hands and my legs as well. I'm scared one day they might bite my little brothers is there a way to trainee them from biting? Am I doing some thing wrong these are my first ducks (I got them when they where 3 weeks old)...

I was just talking to another member who has a drake that is biting. I'll tell you basically the same thing. for one thing try not to get your hands near their bills, even if it means not trying to hold them, Ducks don't really like to be picked up anyway something about being prey to predators. okay now when you go out to feed them take a broom with you before you squat down put the broom between you and the ducks that will keep them from being able to get to you. if they back off then praise them. any time you have to be around them have the broom if they act like they are going to bite or jump on you put the broom in front of you to stop them from coming close. Once you teach them that you are their leader and top duck in the pecking order your relationship will be better. Now don't let your little brother be around the ducklings with out you or an adult, another thing small children need to be taught how to care for ducklings rule 1 no teasing 2 never chase a ducklings or duck. and if you feed out of your hand you may get bit, by accident or on purpose. Try using the broom for 2-3 days as a shield only never hit a duck with a broom or anything else and then let us know if anything changes. Another thing you could try is using a spray bottle with water in it and when the ducks come at you to bite spray them in the face not with the stream though just the spray setting. this will need to be a fast reaction on your part so it is a surprise when you do this tell them no bite. You want it to be so fast they have no way of knowing where that spray came from.
