I have just integrated 5 newly laying hens with my old 3 year old girls (4 of them), and I have one bird, a sweet French Copper Marin that has lots of feathers on her feet. there are 2 chickens (barred rock and a brown isa) that are constantly attacking her feet, and now that she's bleeding they all are getting into the game. I sprayed her with the purple dye, and then they really went at it. Ive separated her to let her heal, but this won't be the long term solution. I don't want to give her her away but I will before they kill her.
I could spray all their feet purple at night? Im going to wrap the bloody toes with black wound wrap but thats temporary too. Any suggestions that may help?

this is my 4 year as a chicken keeper

:welcome Sadly, feather footed and crested birds in mixed flocks frequently become 'targets'. Once the behavior starts, it is difficult to correct. Do an on site search of Pin Less Peepers. They can stop and sometimes cure the bad habit. Good luck.
