Here is my little coop:-

I bought it second-hand off a nice man giving up chickens and I painted it pink. :) I'm going to put a little window in it and I want to put an automatic opener on it but am afraid I'll end up breaking it because the door is stiff to pull up in damp weather :( It slides easy otherwise.

What can I do to stop it?

Thankies

Thanks.
Is that the only solution? I'll make a bit of a mess of it if I take it apart to get the door off I think. Can I pour something down the sides to make it slide smoother or something?

Err, yeah. I'm not quite the DIY person. Job for the brother I think. :)

Only you can tell which part is sticking and need widen. If the width, sand the door down or move one of the side piece out 1/8-1/4". You do almost the same if the door too thick. It is going to get worst during cold weather or scrap get between the door slot. I would also suggest add a 4"-16" board (roof) above the door slot trim to block scrap, rain, and snow get into the door slot.

You COULD try rubbing a candle on the sides and in the track, but I truly think that if you want to make sure you don't break your auto door, I'd ask the good brother to help you. :D

The door is swelling with humidity. The only option is to make the door about 1/8th of an inch smaller in width.

It is either the width or the thickness of the board that is causing the sticking. Once you determined which it is take appropriate action by increasing the tolerance.
