How to tame your roosters?

For me, it's just the risk of them getting too familiar and getting nasty is too great. My rooster is a really good one and I'm not about to rock the boat.
 
I just let my roosters do their job being a flock master, respect them, and let them be chickens.
I tend to think of it more of a partnership, were we both understand the other helps to look after the hens, and both respect each other.
This starts when they are teens, I walk though them, and they get disciplined with a sharp tap/peck on the back if they misbehave and/or getting chased around the run. Once they know they can't boss me around, I then make friends with them, and that is the start of the partnership.
They don't like being picked up, and I respect that. (unless I have to, for health checks)
