Hi, I have 2 Pekin ducks that are about 3 years old. They have been laying soft shell eggs for months now despite, supplements, calcium, etc. The past 2-3 days, one of the ducks has not been herself. She is quiet, laying a lot, not eating unless I hand feed her, and does not want to free range. She is usually the loud, bossy, bold lady of the two so it has me worried. She has always been much bigger than the other with a big plump butt that is very low to the ground. I felt her abdomen and it doesn't feel hard but again her eggs have been soft, so would it be hard? I soaked her twice in warm water yesterday and crushed up tums to see if that helped. How would I know if she is going broody or egg bound? 🦆

I do have an appointment with the vet tomorrow. I was hoping to maybe help her out at home before that since this day 3 of her acting off.
