Hello! I'll be going to see my main chicken man to pick out a rooster from his bunch, they're around 1 month old. I sadly don't have any in the ones I already have. I was wondering if anyone knew how to tell for sure whether or not a chick will be male based on appearance at that age. Pics of your chicks that have turned out to be male would be appreciated also!

Nope. Sometimes they may be an early bloomer with a big red comb but even that's not definitive. 8 weeks is better. If you must pick out one now, your chances will improve if you choose one with a bigger, redder comb and thick legs. You may also want to choose one with a very forward or aggressive personality. Prioritize the traits in the order - big/red comb, thick legs, robust personality.
