how to tell the difference between a male and a female california quail?

i would like to know the gender of my 5 california quail? they are about 3 weeks old.

You will have to wait a little bit longer if the feathering isn't showing you males and females yet. The male has a lot more color and has scaling patterns across his chest, while the female's chest will be grey, the male also has a rust colored spot on his head, that females don't have. You may have to wait for their first adult molt however.
