Hello everybody,
my 6 year's old chicken Giada has having a problem with her eyes. (not Marek's disease)
In one pupil there is a clear (white/gray) spot, and in the other there is another little little spot that is growing.
i think it is cataract, and i think she's going blind.
today, i had to give her food and water separately and with a pink glove (she didn't see the food).
how can i treat cataract? Are there any eye drops that i can use?
than you very much!

No treatment for cataracts in chickens unfortunately. With humans or other pets like dogs they will do eye surgery. I've had chickens go blind. We recently culled an old little rooster because of it. I took care of him as long as I could. He was confined to a pen with another old rooster for a friend. He learned where the food and water was.

Pictures of the eyes might be helpful. If the eye problem is from an injury or infection, you might be able to get some ciprofloxacin eye drops from a vet and treat her twice a day. Neosporin may help as well. First though, use an inexpensive commercial saline eye wash (about $3 at Walmart) to clean the eyes. But many eye problems are from injuries, vitamin deficiency, and diseases. Here is a place that might sell cipro eye drops:

Thank you very much! Im in italy... I'll do some trials to find the drops! In the coop there isnt much dust, they aren't exposed to artificial Lights.. Im thinking about vitamin A deficiency .. What can i give her to supply this deficiency?

She acted absolutely normal despite cataract until two days ago. Even now, she doesn't show other symptomps, she is only a bit isolated from the others.

Ive just see this advertisement... Can dog eyedrops be used on hens?

I don’t know anything about Lumen Pro Eyedrops, except that they seem very expensive, but found this ad for them, which did not give much info:
https://www.heliostatix.org/products

It may be worth a try if it is affordable. I would try to get some chicken vitamins if you can locate those. Cod liver oil, sweet potato, sweet red pepper, carrots, and spinach are high in vitamin A. A round of antibiotic eye drops or ointment would be something I would try first.

Thank you very much!
I mentioned lumen pro only because i saw the ad, but on Amazon i saw lots of dog eye drops at little price, so i wondered if i could use it. In the description of some eye drops there is written "to treat animal cataract" without specifying what animals.
Im going to send some link, for example!

Could you suggest me some names?
Thank you again :)
