If you were designing a coop and run for a pair of Malays, how would you set it up? I've read that some people give the larger breeds lower roosts because it can be hard on their legs to jump down, but I don't know if that applies for these guys. Coop and run would both be deep litter.
I know the standard coop size is 4 square feet per bird, and the run is 10 per bird. I'm assuming Malays need more space. Would a 3x3 or 3x4 coop be appropriate for a pair? And then the run- 7x7 or so? They'd get things to jump on, weed clumps to pick over, and I'd let them out now and then with supervision. I don't imagine Malays are terribly vulnerable to hawks, but I'd definitely put a roof on the run anyway- I'd be more worried a hawk would go for them and get killed!
