I'm in NorthEast Arkansas and in round two of my chicken raising experience.

I raised chickens back about twelve years or so ago and had a decent success with it. But schedule changes made it where I couldn't keep up with them. But, I'm back to them now and full of questions!!!

Right now I have 11 layer chicks, 7 barred rocks and 5 Brown leghorns.

Also have a half dozen CX's too. I need to get more of these this week.

I'm enjoying my time with the chickens and the kids are really into the whole thing too so that makes it even better.

I'm also a rookie gardener too!!!!

I decided I needed a summer hobby, since duck season is only sixty days a year and I can only stand so many days a year in a tree stand;) I like fishing too, but wanted something to do in the evenings after work and chickens and a garden should just about fill the bill. AND I wanted to have a little more contact with the land.

As a kid we raised chickens for eggs and the pot or grill and I remember most of it. And actually liked it.

Thanks for any advice you care to share, and I'd sure like to see some plans for a "tractor"....... got a great place to use one, just need to be able to build it. And I'm not very handy, but my FIL can make a MacGyver plane with about anything in a pole barn!!! He retires in a couple of days and I'll get him busy on helping with that project.

Glad you joined us. You'll learn an awful lot from the great folks here at BYC, I know I have!
