Hello!!!
My classroom closed for distance learning and I needed to take the class incubated eggs home. My school incubates eggs to chicks every year and this is my first year teaching at this school! Well.... A week ago 6 chicks hatched! This is all new, exciting, and absolutely wonderful! I’ve been learning all I can about chick/ chicken care, daydreaming about expanding my family, coop buying, and life with chickens!
And then I discovered my city doesn’t allow chickens and I would need a permit to keep them.
Looking for others who may have applied for a permit and their experience and of course looking to meet other chicken lovers! So nice to be here and have found BYC!!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I live in an area where I can have as many chickens as I want.
Does your area allow them with a permit or are they not allowed at all?
Wow the freedom!
My area says no person shall keep chickens, gulp. And then goes on to say I may apply for a permit, in which the city health officer will come and inspect the premises and issue a permit or not and should it be denied I can appeal within 10 days- .... enter- sleepless nights.
