Hello from Longview, TX. Has anyone gotten ex battery hens in this area?? I don't mind traveling a bit. I'm looking to add to my flock and I'd like to try to rescue a few. My first 2 hens were rescued from our local animal shelter. I knew nothing about chickens other than the fact that I wanted some. A friend who worked there told me they had some up there and I went to pick them up... only to find that they were broilers. They were the biggest chickens i had ever seen. They were super sweet and it made me so happy to see them live a happy healthy life. But I don't think I'll look for broilers again. They poop SOOO MUUCH!!! And they don't live very long

So regular ex battery layer hens are what I'm looking for please.
