Go to "where am I, where are you," in the social forum to locate and post on your state thread. Maybe somewhere there can tell you about chicken laws in your area.

Have you tried calling/visiting your village hall?
 
Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. St. Joseph's Code of Ordinances allows you to keep chickens within the city. See chapter 5, section 5-3 (b) (http://www.stjoemo.info/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/52). Of course there could also be some type of HOA subdivision covenants in your particular neighborhood that might prohibit chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
