Howdy All!

First of all, I am so happy to have found this site, who knew there were so many things going on with chickens. Now for a little bit about me.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Not new to chickens, my family had a small backyard flock of white leghorns for eggs when I was a kid. I also raised chickens (broilers) as my FFA project for 2 years while in high school.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Currently I have 18

(3) What breeds do you have?
Barred Rocks, SC Nankin, Sussex (buff, coronation and light) and 1 wayward RIR

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I found it in some search or other oneday.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I also collect Breyer model horses and show and breed chow chows.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have been married to my best friend for almost 15 years and have a teenage daughter and an adult son. We have a menagerie of critters including 6 dogs, 1 cat, 2 horses, 3 rabbits and 18 chickens. Right now I am basically a retired pet groomer although I still have a few clients. I am hoping to possibly get into showing chickens in the future.

Really enjoyed your intro. First the ratio of 6 dogs to one cat seems about perfect(except for the 1 cat). I too am a (long) retired groomer. My niece (adult) collects the Breyer model horses, and I used to breed and show Cockers. Loads of dog folks on here of every profession/breed.

A lot of my friends have chows that can't be trusted with cats, I have always kept one so as to avoid that behavior in the dogs. Both of my males will let him sleep right there with them.
