Hello, Everyone. I just joined the BYC community. Recently adopted a couple of chicks (Rhode Island Red & Easter Egger?) and then a couple more (Light Brahma & Golden Laced Wyandotte).... I'm sure this is only the beginning. I came across this forum when I was researching chicken coop plan ideas. So many different considerations and options for design. We'll be embarcing on our coop construction project in the next week or so. I can tell that this crowd is passionate about chickens! I'm looking forward to learning from experienced chicken champions. Thanks for being such a welcoming community.

we're just starting out with four chickens, though I'm sure that our flock will grow. Coop design will probably accomodate up to 8 chickens in the end. Looking at a variation on the Witchita Cabin coop design as a starting point.

The first two chicks I got from my sister who wasn't sure exactly what breed the chicks were. My niece just picked one of each kind from the tub without noting which chick was which breed. The Rhode Island Red looks right, but not sure about the Easter Egger. We'll find out in 5 months when the eggs start coming.

When you buy your wide screen TV for the coop, keep in mind, (Chickens prefer cable) They love to watch Animal Planet!
