1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Not new to chickens /
Mom raised successfully so I'd say 45 years ago, she had some fancy even had a 200 egg self turning incubator, hatched quail in.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Just took in 2 hens and hearing a ER a ER from the 4 that were hatched here so 2 Roosters and 10 hens now.
(3) What breeds do you have? Barred
Rock roo Rhode islands and really just a 57 flock, all needed a home.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I enjoy the fanatics I guess, I have to let the same rooster that I hand raised beat up the feed bag or better yet the garbage can lid before I can get in pen to tend to business!!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm trying to run home based plant nursery have taken up art recycling my knees are shot out need replacements so I needed something to stay busy while off feet
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
It's just myself and my 23 year old daughter who's on the spectrum. High functioning autism my life my "Hope". Raising chickens and Chiweenies, we also have 2 huge pigs that needed a home 6-7 years ago unfortunately they're both males, Kevin and Jon I named em. I do have the pleasure of "hosting" another that needed a home this one's a human male lol I get a lot of help from him though.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Just saw BYC about a month ago been reading lots and looks like it's for me so joined this morning thanks for having me!
