I have 3 Black Australourps, 2 Buff Orplingtons and one surprise white Easter Egger. The babies are now 3 weeks old. Everything is going well. I am currently working on the coop.

Sounds like a good mix of breeds. I almost picked up some Black Australourps last week, but I needed to run some errands and by the time I made it back to the local feed store they were all gone. Ended up with 2 mystery broilers, and 4 Black Cochin from TSC instead. Plus I have Cubalayas, Barred Holland, Egyptian Fayoumis chicks and some French Guinea keets. Adult hens are Easter Eggers, and most likely a sex linked breed that was a pullet run from TSC.

Hi :welcome Sarah

Glad you could join the flock! I've not had these breeds myself but have heard and read great things about them. Lovely to hear things are going well for you with your chicks. Good luck with your coop build.

Hope you enjoy BYC, I am sure you will everyone here to help with any questions you may have.
Enjoy the chicken chat :frow

Welcome to BYC, Sarah. Glad you decided join our flock. Which part of Texas are you from? My wife and I were both raised in the great state of Texas. I have all three of your breeds in my flock, and you have a great mix of breeds. Black Australorps are my favorite standard breed. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds), and they are extremely hardy, calm and gentle (my children and granddaughter made lap pets of them and our Orpingtons as well), and the best layers of the standard, brown egg laying breeds. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your chicks.
