Glad to finally become a member, I've been reading some of yalls posts and enjoying the responses. My family have had chickens since I was a kid, then I've been chickenless for the past 20 years or so, and recently (3 yrs) I've been disabled and more recently 10 months or so gotten some chickens, 10 laying hens, 4 Rhode Island Reds, 1 Rhode Island White, 3 EE Araucanas, and 2 Red Cochin Bantys. All super sweet, and very productive layers, 2 weeks ago I learned of an local elderly gentleman that was having hard times and getting rid of all his chickens and equipment, I had told myself I didn't want any little bitties, but when I went to visit the man, the feral cats from a neighbors barn had just came and killed 20+ babies, and he had 30-50 more running loose, it took me a couple hours to catch them but I caught all the babies that were in good shape. 38 total, so needless to say I have a bunch of babies, all Bantys ! Some really good lookin mamas running around so im anxious to see these mature, He even brought 6 out of the house that were just hours old out of the incubator, so from 2 weeks to 7 weeks old and now 44 total babies plus my 10 hens. Like it or not I'm back in the chicken business. lol.. I enjoy it and must say its really great therapy !! So I'll be lurking around reading yalls posts, and may post some of my own. Just wanted to say hello, Hi, and Howdy !!
