Hi everyone!
My husband and I just moved back to central Texas from Colorado in early June and are currently looking for somewhere to settle down on a farm near the coast.
We first got chickens a couple years ago and had 7 hens, but only 6 were still laying.
We recently bought a new flock of about 24 chickens and they are all about 8-9 weeks old currently.
We have a variety of maybe 5 different breeds. However, I’m not seasoned enough to tell what the breeds are with this young of a flock.
I came across BackYardChickens.com forums several times over the past couple years and could always find a thread to answer my questions. I finally took the time to join this great community.
My husband and I have a 16 month old son, who loves food...he is growing like a weed! As soon as we get some land of our own, we will be growing our own food in a little garden, getting some guardian livestock dogs, maybe goats and pigs too. I currently work from home and my husband takes care of our son.
I look forward to sharing and learning from this community!
