How's this for a first-time dual-purpose flock?

this is my first year of raising meat birds or any chicken for that matter.. I went with the cornish x's
I lost quite a few out of the gate, but then everything has been going great. I went from 50 to 40 in the first 2 weeks.. but I believe that was the hatchery , not the breed.. I expected to loose some though.

Mine have not made a mess with their food and are not dirty.. I can see where they should be. I have 40 in a 9x12 area and layer fresh shavings weekly. They will be 5 weeks on Monday and have gone through 5 bags of shavings and they are on their 5th 50lb bag of food (first bag lasted for two weeks.. ) The 40 are now eating almost a full large feeder a day and go through lots and lots of water.

I love the idea of butchering at 8 weeks or sooner and I like that they don't really have personalities to attach too.. I have about 5 that come up for a belly rub.. (for real)

They do however smell way worse then my 30 pullet/hens in the coop next door..

I just took pictures.. they are not scary ugly birds like they were sposed to be..
