Hubby yelled at me for giving eggs

Hubby got mad at me for giving hid boss eggs. He says they thought they were bad because their was a red dot in one egg. So hr gave me. Dirty look and said not to give away fertile eggs anymore. Eggs were not from my. Fertile pen. Isn't the red dot normal and it happens ? I say no more eggs for anyone if they are going to be nasty about it. Its bad enough my in laws go thru my pend when I am not home and take my maran eggs. Grrrr

Time to put a padlock on your pens! Cite all of the recent chicken thefts lately, and how you want to protect your birds.

As to the red dot ... just a blood spot. Doesn't mean fertile. Give the eggs to people who appreciate them. I'm sure there are a LOT of people who would fit the bill.

It is crazy how some people are so inconsiderate!

It happens to every hen once in awhile. The red is blood from when she is forming the egg in her. I am sorry and personally I would keep the eggs to myself or sell them on ebay/craigslist for hatching eggs.

I am sorry people are being so mean to you about it thouhg.

Backyard chicken eggs are a natural product. One should expect natural occurances like a tiny little blood spot every once in awhile, just like finding a pit in the green olives or the cherry pie! Some people deserve supermarket eggs!

Oh I let hubby have it. Explained to him it was a meat spot. Explained that ment the egg was fresh and if they didn't
Like fresh eggs then they can buy old store bought things. He goes oh no they liked the, and they tasted way better. So pretty sure he will explain what the spot is tomorrow. He is such a city boy. At least he is learning. Lol but I do currently have locks on my pens , but they latch time to go heavy duty. I warned hubby should family go thru my pens again prepare for me to hit the roof. I gave him the one pen , no roo and he can grab from there. Just not my BCM or my orphpington pens. I currently have my amercauna hens in with the maran roo so i can hatch some of those offspring for myself.

some people just dont get true fresh farm eggs.

My hen's eggs are fertilized EVERY DAY!

My marans tend to have issues with blood spots during the winter months. So when I give eggs away, I either leave the marans eggs out OR warn them that there might be one and what it means. . . I also tell them it is safe, use a spoon and remove it OR throw away the egg if it bothers them.

The egg cartons keep coming back empty . . . so I am guessing they are OK with it!

Dh needs to get a life AND you the OP needs to find people who want her eggs - - - not confused city people!

don't think I've ever noticed one.

Why not? Are blood spots only in fresh eggs then, and somehow disappear
with age?

May be a silly question, but I don't know.

I totally agree. I told him I wont give city slickers any more eggs. At thi point rather scramble and give to the dogs. They wont complain.

That's why "regular" every day people don't know things like blood spots occur naturally. They are too disconnected from their food source.
