My neighbors come over asking for my eggs. . . blood spots and all . . .

My one neighbor thinks having chickens in the backyard is sooooo cool, that he brought his last girlfriend over so that she could "harvest" her own eggs from the laying nests for her own breakfast - - - HOW COOL IS THAT ? ? ?

That's neat that your neighbor is so supportive! My mom has neighbors with chickens and she has chickens as well and there are 2-3 people who HATE them lol They are constantly calling the city trying to get them gone but they are within allowence so the city can't do anything!

I can understand his point where the uneducated BOSS is giving him a change of attitude at work all day, because the boss thinks you guys were rude enough to give them bad eggs.

How lame of the boss. I would suggest they read up on blood spots in eggs and then not sell to them. I bought eggs once from a lady whose parents had chickens. Now I actually DID get a rotten egg. So nasty the smell could make you vomit. I never complained because these things happen. No,instead I got my own chickens to ensure the freshest, lol!

And I think a lock is a good idea.Tell family not to take eggs,because......some will be hatching and you don't want them cracking an almost developed chick into the fry pan.

Eggs are graded by candling. Those with blood or meat spots are grade B (along with eggs displaying other criteria that would render them of lower classification than grades AA or A), and are mostly used as ingredients in products rather than sold as fresh eggs on grocery shelves.

I've had family members refuse to eat any of our eggs because the free rangers eggs are fertile. They all insist that they'll have blood in them etc... I told them that they are nuts. Which for the most part isn't too far off the mark.

I totally understand what you are going through. I went through this last month. Good luck, and I would lock my coop too. If they don't have permission they should not be taking stuff.
