Huge egg!

one of my girls layed this egg yesterday. What's up with that. Today she was fretting and acting like she was having problems laying. I only got one egg from my 2 Bardrock girls so I am thinking she is not able to get it out. Anyone? I am a new chicken "Mom". I am worried

Hi, and Wow!!

She could be egg bound. Or, she could be just skipping a day. Chickens typically lay an egg every 26 hours, so not quite every day.

Palpate/feel around her abdomen near her vent to see if it feels like there's an egg.

If you can't tell, feel on one that you knownlaid an egg today and see if you notice a difference.

It's probably a double yolk too, it happens. I've had triple yolks also, not many tho.
